The Problem

WordPress translation is broken — and everyone knows it

Traditional translation tools either break your layouts, ignore your page builder data, or charge per-word prices that make multilingual sites prohibitively expensive. WordPress content isn't plain text — it's a complex mix of HTML, block comments, shortcodes, and JSON. Most tools ignore this reality.

HTML Structure Destroyed

Generic translation APIs don't understand WordPress HTML. Tags get mangled, attributes disappear, block comments break. You spend hours fixing what the translator broke.

No Memory, No Savings

Translated the same paragraph last week? Pay again. Most WordPress translation tools have no Translation Memory — every translation request starts from zero.

No Brand Control

'Sie' or 'du'? 'dietary supplement' or 'food supplement'? Without glossaries and formality controls, every translation is a gamble. Consistency across pages? Forget it.

What Makes Symbion Different

Translation built for WordPress — from the ground up

Symbion doesn't just send your text to an AI and hope for the best. It understands WordPress content structure, remembers your translations, and respects your brand voice.

Context-Aware AI Translation

Powered by best-in-class AI models with custom prompts optimized for website content. Temperature tuned to 0.3 for consistent yet natural translations.

Content Adapter System

Intelligent extraction that understands Gutenberg blocks, Elementor widgets, WPBakery shortcodes, and ACF blocks. Only translatable text is sent to the AI — saving ~40% on tokens.

Translation Memory (TM)

Every translation is stored and reused. Identical segments are served from memory instantly — no AI cost, no waiting. Hit rates of 65%+ after initial site translation.

Glossaries & Profiles

Define brand terms, technical vocabulary, forbidden words, and custom translations. Control formality per language pair. Your translation rules are enforced automatically.

34 Languages

From German to Japanese, Arabic to Lithuanian — including right-to-left languages. Every language pair is supported with full glossary and TM integration.

Streaming Architecture

Long content? No problem. Streaming responses prevent timeouts on large pages. Real-time progress tracking while your content is being translated.

Content Adapters

Every page builder. Every block. Zero broken layouts.

WordPress stores content differently depending on the page builder you use. Gutenberg uses HTML comments with JSON attributes. Elementor stores data in post_meta as nested JSON. WPBakery uses shortcodes. ACF blocks embed JSON in HTML comments.

Symbion's Content Adapter system understands each format natively. It extracts only the translatable text, sends it to the AI, and then precisely reinjects the translation back into the original structure — preserving every CSS class, every data attribute, every block comment.

Less data to the AI. Less surface for drift.

Symbion's Content Adapters strip HTML markup, block comments, shortcode syntax, and JSON structure before anything reaches the AI. What doesn't get sent can't be rewritten. The result: ~40% fewer tokens per request — and translations that stay closer to your existing, already-ranked content.

Translation Memory

Translate once. Reuse forever. Pay nothing.

Symbion's Translation Memory (TM) stores every translated segment, hashed and indexed by language pair. When the same text appears again — on a different page, in a different post — it's served from memory instantly. No AI call. No cost. No latency.

How TM Works

1

Hash & Lookup

Every source text is normalized (trimmed, lowercased, whitespace-collapsed) and hashed with SHA-256. The hash is looked up in your TM database — per language pair, per license.

2

Exact Match → Instant Reuse

If the hash matches a stored entry, the translation is returned immediately. No AI call is needed. This is free, fast, and perfectly consistent.

3

Fuzzy Matching (Optional)

Enable fuzzy matching in your Translation Profile to catch near-identical segments. Symbion uses aggressive normalization (removing punctuation, replacing numbers) to find matches even when text varies slightly.

4

New Translation → Auto-Store

When a segment has no TM match, it's translated by AI and the result is automatically stored in your TM for future reuse. Your TM grows smarter with every translation.

TM in Numbers

TM Hit Rate (after 30 days)~65%
Token Cost Reduction~60%
Lookup Speed<200ms

Cost Impact

Combining Content Adapters (~40% token reduction) with Translation Memory (~65% hit rate), Symbion typically reduces translation costs by 60–80% compared to straight-through AI translation — after the initial translation pass.

Translation Profiles

Your brand. Your rules. Your terminology.

Every brand has its own voice. Symbion Translation Profiles let you define how your content should sound in every language — from formality level to exact term translations.

Formality Control

Choose how your brand addresses users in every language. This isn't just "formal or informal" — it's integrated into the AI prompt to ensure consistent tone across thousands of pages.

Formal
Sie/vous/usted
Corporate, legal, finance
Informal
du/tu/tú
Startups, e-commerce, lifestyle
Neutral
Context-dependent
Mixed audiences, documentation

5-Type Glossary System

Not all terms are equal. Symbion's glossary supports five distinct term types, each handled differently during translation.

Do Not Translate
WordPress, WooCommerce
Brand Names
Symbion, YourBrand™
Custom Terms
Nahrungsergänzung → dietary supplement
Technical Terms
Fixed translations for industry jargon
Forbidden Terms
"cheap", "best price" — never use these

Custom Tone Instructions

Go beyond presets. Write your own tone instructions — "Use short, punchy sentences. Avoid passive voice. Address the reader directly." — and Symbion integrates them into every AI translation request. Your brand guidelines become part of the translation engine.

How It Works

From source to translated page — the full pipeline

01

Content Adapter Extraction

Symbion detects your page builder (Gutenberg, Elementor, WPBakery, ACF) and uses the matching Content Adapter to extract only translatable text segments. HTML structure, CSS classes, block comments, and shortcode syntax are preserved — never sent to the AI.

02

Translation Memory Lookup

Every extracted segment is hashed (SHA-256) and checked against your Translation Memory. Exact matches are returned instantly. Fuzzy matches (if enabled) catch near-identical text with minor variations in punctuation or numbers.

03

Profile & Glossary Context

Your Translation Profile is loaded — formality level, do-not-translate terms, custom translations, forbidden words, and tone instructions. This context is injected into the AI prompt to ensure every translation follows your brand rules.

04

AI Translation (Streaming)

Only segments without TM matches are sent to the AI. Streaming architecture prevents timeouts on long content. The AI response is parsed, validated against HTML structure rules, and HTML entities are automatically corrected.

05

Reinsertion & Storage

Translated text is precisely reinserted into the original content structure by the Content Adapter. TM matches and new AI translations are merged. New translations are stored in TM for future reuse. The complete, translated content is returned — ready to save.

HTML Integrity

Your HTML stays perfect. Always.

Symbion's AI prompt is specifically engineered to preserve HTML integrity during translation. But we don't stop at prompts — we validate and fix the output.

  • All HTML tags preserved exactly — <li>, <ul>, <p>, <h1>–<h6>, <strong>, etc.
  • HTML attributes unchanged — class, id, style, href, data-* untouched
  • Block comments intact — <!-- wp:paragraph --> and <!-- /wp:paragraph -->
  • Placeholder variables preserved — {name}, {{variable}}, %s, %d
  • URLs, email addresses, and code snippets never translated
  • Automatic HTML entity correction post-translation (&lt; → <, &amp; → &)
  • WordPress block comment escape sequences fixed automatically
Language Quality

34 languages. Honest about quality.

Translation quality depends on training data, linguistic distance, and domain complexity. We don't hide this — we build our tools around it. Glossaries, Delta Translation, and Translation Memory work hardest where they matter most.

For Developers & Agencies

Built for production. Engineered for scale.

Async Job Queue

Large pages can be offloaded to an async job queue. Get a job ID, poll for status, receive translations when ready. No timeouts, no lost work.

License-Based Isolation

Translation Memory, glossaries, and profiles are isolated per license key. Agency clients never see each other's data. Full multi-tenant architecture.

Usage & Cost Tracking

Every translation is logged with token counts, cost, timing, model used, and language pair. Full visibility into translation spend per domain.

Time Estimation

Before translating, get accurate time and cost estimates. Factors in TM hit rate, token count, network latency, and model output speed.

Rate Limiting & Quotas

Built-in rate limiting and token quotas prevent runaway costs. Configurable per license with real-time quota tracking.

Validation & Logging

Every translation is validated for HTML integrity. Warnings are logged. Content extraction timing, model latency, and reinsertion timing are tracked per request.

Stability Principles

Why Symbion does not constantly retranslate content.

AI improves by variation — but translation needs stability. A paragraph that reads perfectly today shouldn't be rephrased tomorrow just because the model has a new idea. Symbion applies the same Decision Stability principles used across all its features:

Delta Translation
Only changed content is retranslated. Existing, working translations are protected — not rewritten.
Translation Memory
Proven translations are stored and reused. The same phrase always gets the same translation — no AI drift.
Glossary Enforcement
Brand terms, technical vocabulary, and forbidden words are locked — consistent across every page, every language.

Translation without rewriting
what already works.

Translate your WordPress site into 34 languages — with full structure preservation, Translation Memory, glossary enforcement, and the stability your content deserves.
